It is great to see that Mind HK has launched three mental health initiatives recently. There is no doubt that COVID-19 has been an extremely unsettling time for many people globally. Companies have had to make extremely tough decisions due to the impact, which has brought on huge unemployment, and ultimately led to an increase in mental health stresses.
Most people I know are having "off days" at the moment, and it's important to know that this is OK. Please reach out to your friends and family if you are - it helps so much to talk it through. If you sense someone is having an off day; seems stressed, a little disconnected or not getting back to you straight away, please cut them some slack, remember that this pandemic is affecting people differently every day.
Why not ask "Are you okay?" instead - those 3 words will go a long way at the moment.
In a survey conducted by Mind HK, 43% of people reported that their mental health had worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic, and almost half of respondents (49%) reported feeling lonely.
